Water Line Installation & Replacement

New service lines, main replacements, and irrigation runs — bored trenchless so your landscaping stays where it is.

Sloan Underground Construction has been installing water lines across the Carolinas since 1965. We use horizontal directional drilling (HDD) to run new water service, replace corroded pipe, and extend lines to irrigation, outbuildings, or new construction — with a small entry pit and a small exit pit, and nothing disturbed between. Residential water line installs typically cost $1,800–$4,500 and finish in a single day.

How much does a water line installation cost in SC?

Residential service lines run roughly $1,800–$4,500 installed trenchless. Runs under roads, driveways, or waterways; larger diameters; and commercial mains scale higher — commercial projects typically $6,000–$30,000+. Every job starts with a free written estimate within 24 hours.

Water in, yard intact

Install Water Lines Without Tearing Up Your Property

Traditional water line replacement means a long open trench across the entire run — through lawn, flower beds, driveway, and patio. That's weeks of disruption and thousands in surface restoration. Our trenchless method bores a small-diameter path underground and pulls the new pipe through, leaving everything above ground exactly where it was.

We handle new construction taps, aged galvanized and polybutylene swap-outs, emergency leak replacements, and irrigation line runs to detached buildings or pool houses. HDPE and PEX are our common residential materials; HDPE and PVC cover most commercial mains.

Common Questions About Water Line Work

How much does water line installation cost in SC?

Residential service lines typically run $1,800–$4,500 installed trenchless. Runs crossing roads, larger diameters, or commercial mains scale higher — commercial work typically $6,000–$30,000+. Every job gets a free, written estimate.

How long does water line installation take?

Most residential water line bores finish in a single day — often under 8 hours start to finish. Commercial mains or long runs take 1 to 3 days depending on length and soil conditions.

Can you replace a water line without digging up my yard?

Yes. That's the whole point of trenchless HDD. We create a small entry pit and a small exit pit; the bore runs underground between them. Your driveway, lawn, and flower beds stay intact.

What pipe material do you install?

HDPE and PEX are our common residential water service materials. HDPE and PVC cover most commercial mains. Material choice depends on code, required pressure rating, diameter, and soil conditions.
